WorkSource hosting events next week

Sessions set for Cathlamet, Rosburg

WorkSource will hold two events in Wahkiakum County to let job seekers and those wanting to advance in their careers know about free job search, employment and training services.

Individuals can choose one of two information sessions to attend on May 24:

--Wahkiakum Community Center, 101 Main Street, Cathlamet, 1-2:30 p.m.

--Grays River Valley Center, 30 Rosburg School Road, Rosburg, 3:30-5 p.m.

Following the overview of services and programs, WorkSource staff will be available to meet individually with attendees to learn about their specific needs and make recommendations for services, training and/or other assistance.

WorkSource services are free to individuals and businesses. Job seekers, those who are employed and looking for a change and individuals needing additional training or skills to move up in their current position or industry may be eligible for programs, training and other support services offered through WorkSource. To get started with WorkSource services, job seekers are encouraged to enroll at http://www.WorkSourceWA.com.

Beginning June 7, WorkSource will be available at the Wahkiakum Community Center the first Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon.

Free workshops on searching for a job, resume writing, interviewing skills, determining your skills, talents and interests and other topics are available at WorkSource Cowlitz/Wahkiakum in Kelso.

WorkSource is a partnership of state agencies, training and education providers, colleges and community organizations that provide free employment and training services to businesses and job seekers. WorkSource assists employers to recruit and screen for qualified applicants, provides wage reimbursement opportunities through on-the-job trainings, and supplies cost-savings information on employment tax credits.

Job seekers and those wishing to advance in their career can access workshops on a variety of topics, including resume writing and interviewing skills and may qualify for scholarships to pay for job training or certifications to advance in their field.
